Mission Statement
The mission of the Breastfeeding Coalition of Placer County is to promote and support breastfeeding as a vital part of the health and development of children and their families in our communities.

Vision
To ensure breastfeeding is recognized as the normal method of infant and young child feeding in Placer County; all health care providers in Placer County will be knowledgeable about, promote, and provide support for breastfeeding; and every woman in Placer County will have access to the information, resources and community support necessary to breastfeed for as long as she wishes.
Goals
- Improve the access for Placer County families to comprehensive, current, and culturally appropriate breastfeeding care and services.
- Promote breastfeeding awareness and education for health care providers and agencies serving new mothers and their families.
- Inform the public about the existence of breastfeeding support networks.
Services Provided
The Breastfeeding Coalition of Placer county provides telephone and in-person lactation consultations to mothers and babies of Placer County in partnership with First 5 Placer County. Telephone consultations are free of charge. An initial consultation with one of our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants is also free of charge. Follow-up visits, if necessary, have a graduated fee schedule. Services are not denied based on inability to pay.
The Breastfeeding Coalition of Placer County also provides education to health care providers, allied health professionals, and university students pursuing degrees in the health care field through our annual educational conference, in-service training and workshops. We are also available to provide telephone consultations to individuals who work with pregnant and lactating women in Placer County.
